Two hours of yard work will put him out of commission for the rest of the day while his head tries to sort out the histamines and congestion that have incapacitated him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Allergy meds help, but George is averse to taking pills of any kind. If he feels badly enough, though, he will occasionally take Allegra or Claritin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI took drugs yesterday,\u201d he said after an hour of spreading mulch, \u201cand I felt so much better than I feel today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat does that tell you?\u201d I said, in hopes he would acknowledge the benefit of using some help on a regular basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBubble boy should not go outside.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Like I said, George doesn\u2019t care for the outdoors. This creates a dilemma for me because I love to walk and hike, even tracking my daily miles. George does walk a bit when our old dog, Prince, wants to go out. But Prince\u2019s health is failing\u2014he\u2019s fourteen, after all, pretty old for a large dog\u2014and we\u2019ve had to scale back on the distances he walks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen Prince dies, will I ever get you outside to take a walk?\u201d I said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI won\u2019t commit at this point.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I took that as a no<\/em>.
