We got stuck behind a pokey driver this morning, doing 35 in a 55 mph zone. Couldn\u2019t get around him because of the double centerline, so cars were lining up behind us.<\/p>\n
I wanted to scream because I like to do everything quickly. Wasting time is not an option for me.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy doesn\u2019t the old geezer speed up?\u201d I asked my husband.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t know a geezer is driving that car,\u201d George said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has to be! It\u2019s against the law to go that much under the speed limit and the people behind us are liable to think it\u2019s our<\/em> fault, that we\u2019re <\/em>the old people who don\u2019t know how to drive!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t care what people think,\u201d George said, \u201cwhich is obvious since I\u2019m driving a car that says Call Me Granny<\/em> on the back of it.\u201d<\/p>\n Oh, yeah. That\u2019s right. A gift bestowed on my little SUV by friend, Tracy, is a license plate frame that reflects those very words: Call Me Granny<\/em>. (Is it any wonder that George prefers to drive his car rather than mine?) The words give fair warning that the driver of the vehicle could poke along–or drive like a bat out of hell.<\/p>\n I guess since I\u2019m old enough to have reached Granny status I\u2019m entitled to do either one.
